December 11, 2008

umm so … I have to start off by saying that the past two nights I had the kind of sleeps where you feel like you only slept for literally 2 minutes … only to wake .. to HAVE to get up .. so not gnarley… I do not want that to happen today… so … I’m hoping for the best… OH OH on top of that when I snoozed … same thing .. alarm goes off .. I press the snooze and in a half second it’s been 45 mins .. not cool (yes that is how long I snooze for hahaha) But yes okay getting to the good stuff…

Aulllright … so the plan for my next paycheck .. WoW!!!! Do not judge – you only judge because you only wish you could play. Haterades … so not high in electrolytes (no one will get that LOL)

K so .. Franz Ferdinand concert yesterday was BALLIN!!!!

But first .. yesterday after work I went to get my eyebrows done .. I was starting to look like  mONKEH!!!! I then went to TNT to purchase some tomatoes, eggs, and mango juice …. came home only to find my mom had made yummy yummy dinner, I ate while watching the first period of the Canucks’ game  … and proceeded to pick up Sofia for le Franz ….. on my way I listened to said game on the radio – for I did not want to miss out on the action.

We got to our predetermined parking lot only to find out parking was going to cost $20 ridiculous dollars… KILL THAT NOISE!!.. We went to the one parking lot that is the jiggity jam .. $8  .. Umm .. way better than $20 is all I gotta say . Umm we went to take out money at the ATM machine .. Sofia went first … then I stuck my card in the machine .. pulled the card out like instructed to .. and I broke the machine  … an error message appeared .. LOL so we walked across the street to another ATM … and me being all good to go decided to try to see if I could navigate the ATM in French … I thought I did well but in the end it just spit out a receipt …. THEN it wouldn’t read my card ahhahaha . umm on to the next ATM ..which had the option of English and Spanish … and of course I couldn’t resist but to try the Spanish version . I was successful …

Waiting in line to get into Franz  .. a dood arrived in front of the Orpheum .. pulled out his guitar and began to play … He began to play none other than BOB DYLAN!!!! (Like a Rolling Stone) I had to give him some COINAGE!!! … Very nice.

OOOOOLRAAAEEET – we are inside .. we head for the front (we are both quite zee shot ones so we wanted to be up close) … We were on the right (AKA stage left lol) … We took turns being keeners and getting a T-shirt each. I got a white one and she got a black one..

Opening was The Evaporators with frontman Nardwuar. They were so full of energy… very very fun band. Nardwaur was wearing quite the fancy suit and he rocked out with it for most of the show .. Until near the end when he decided to take it off on stage and change into a fancy colorful suit, complete with black chewbacca boots. He crowd surfed quite a bit. The best part was when he went out into the middle of the crowd and got everyone to crouch down and then he got them to jump up with their hands in the air. It was quite the experience. His songs are in the punk/garage genre – they consist of very entertaining lyrics with the likes of songs with names such as “I gotta rash”, “Addicted to Cheese”, and my fav “Barney Rubble Is My Body Double”. Good to go these guys are.

Franz was pretty much off the chizzzains. I’m not going to sit here and describe every song for you… but I will tell you how overall these guys are good to go. They played old stuff .. and new stuff. I believe they started off with “Michael” .. good song to get the crowd going… which I might say was a well behaved one at that. They were too busy dancing than causing a ruckus. Sofia and I were standing beside these to umm … hockey player looking chicks .. and they did NOT SMILE at aALLL or ANYTHING during the entire show … one of them had her hair in braids so I gave them the nicknames Helga and Inga… too bad I didn’t get any shots of them because they did look like a Helga and an Inga. anyways back to zee show. Over all what impressed me the most was the sauciness being emitted from Bob’s bouncy bass lines. I am highly anticipating the new Alby hitting the stores in late Jan. Alex of course had all the moves that night, jumping, kicking the air, and that smooth voice of his to add to the showmanship .. good to go. They played “Dark Of The Matinee” every single person in the room was pumping up the jam. I also noticed that they have a distinct drumming sound … one of their TOMS .. I hear in every song. I like that. They were the first band I saw at the Commodore Ballroom years ago .. I think it was when I first turned 19…. and I stood in the exact same spot… just so I can be in front of Bob lol. This show was different than a lot of the shows I have been going to lately.  It wasn’t as long as it could have been, but during the show I did not once think about how long the set was… or how long the wait was. They were soo good to go that it didn’t even cross my mind. They ended the show with “This Fire” which they also ended with the first time I saw them but is the perfect song to end a show with. Bob gave me his guitar pick ( I asked him for it during the show… and he nodded so I knew it was coming hahah) and all the girls like .. OH MAGAWWW !!! But I won that battle!! HAHAHA I got his guitar pick the first time I saw them too. OH memories =) .. But yes .. the only thing that I was not expecting is for them to not play “Lucid Dreams” which is the new smash hit of the up and coming alby. Tis okay. I have a feeling they will be back in a couple of months. Lucid Dreams WILL make it on the set list.

But yes .. I took a lot of pictures.. most of these on facebook. But since I am almost finished with this post and I have not yet posted a picture .. it is only fair…
