How awesome is that frickin stage!?!?! AH!!!! So good! … I wish there were more pictures to share …. but they were cracking down on camera usage .. which SUCKED because I have a sweet zoom camera … and I would have gotten some sweet pics . Instead, all I got was this iPhone pic during Purple Rain …. THIS <— I am not proud of that picture .. I had to be a ninja about it and it looks like CHIT … but it holds the memories LOL.
There was this bit where the stage was glowing neon green and he had a little Area 51 mood going with the music … The show was awesome. …. The bass player was slapping the shit out of that baby .. the saxophone player was full of soul .. ahhh there was this bit Prince started what I say was a jam session with the crowd … he got the crowd clapping “on the upswing lol “ .. and he was grooving on the guitar ….. He covered MJs “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough” .. AHhhh!!!!! <3 Prince…. real talk! Such a good show! …. the only thing that could have been better was the production … the lighting guys were a little off during some parts … and the guy directing the live footage SUCKED!! … I would have done a better job for free … It’s like there was no communication between the director, the camera guys and the lighting guys ….. but w/e … first world problems LOL … Still amaze! He did a double encore … some people left after the first encore … like .. come on guys seriously you’re not gonna wait for “When Dove’s Cry?” .. ayi yi .. also the lack of singing along haha yes now its time to judge the crowd LOL….. like .. Raspberry Beret how can you not sing along to that? … Kiss was good .. ahh .. it was all good .. haha .. ok anyways …

Ummm I guess I should do my second annual year end post ….. for some reason I felt like I had to write one up for 2010 …. I guess it was a good year …. ha .. because I sure as hell don’t feel like writing about 2011.

I don’t really know what to say about it … I had a few resolutions … I accomplished all of them … except moving .. I discovered the beauty that is Sunrise Park (2 blocks away) during the Summer ….. actually I went to chill on the bleachers a couple of days ago… it’s been a dry Autumn … finally just started to rain yesterday. I bought a patio set … so delicious … I cannot count on my fingers and toes how many nights I stayed out there admiring at the moon on clear nights ….. Can’t wait to get good use of it next year . Another resolution was going to more concerts ….. I don’t think I went to any this year … of course I’m kind of straight west coastin’ right now … but I’m pretty sure I don’t think I did ….. I went to a handful of dance parties though … and I’m gonna see Prince tomorrow … which will be a concert/dance party .. wooo!!. ….. Ummm another resolution was go to kickboxing more often ….. I totally quit that a couple of months ago … I stopped going in the Spring lol. I got busy .. and had no energy after work … and when I did … it was a joke LOL – well .. I mean .. it’s definitely a workout and it felt delicious after … but all the chicks in there were such pansies …. it was basically a fashion show for their gym clothes … “Check me out while I take a break to catch my breath every 30 seconds between slapping the pad on the wall.” … and that’s not why I stopped going … because I found it kind of amusing lol but …. I just changed my eating habits and accomplished what I would have wanted to accomplish with kickboxing anyways … so another resolution out the window.
Umm what else? …. work … was interesting LOL – I remember being really stressed out about it earlier on in the year ….. but then it wasn’t too bad …. some changes happened around the summer time … and things went a little haywire for a little while ……. the smooth sailing had come to an end. lol – I don’t even remember why I was stressing … anyways …. if I was a sound wave being modulated by an ADSR envelope … I’d be in the sustain stage right now. Chillin ….. Might be the fact that it’s the holidays and that everything is just a little more relaxing … but, I think I might have just adapted.
The Godspot … I say that with a smile on my face … we had quite the year …. I lost count of how many shows we played … definitely in the double digits … we played at Scratch Records, The Railway, The Cobalt, Lana Lous … a backyard surprise B-Day party .. even a REALLY sketchy seedy place both under the bridge and on the wrong side of the tracks lol I’ll never forget that night…. We recorded an EP and put on a sweet Electric Kool Aid Party … the oil and water projector was AWESOME!! That night we played with a band named Hallow Moon …. oh my god .. most pretentious band EVER!!! … all of their fans looked like Russel Brand clones …. the drummer spoke with a British accent and he thought he was soooo coool … =\ … lol no, I’m sure they are nice fellows … I am sad to say though …. I am no longer in The Godspot … love those guys seriously, we had an adventure and a half this year.. but, I wanted to do my own stuff – …. which I’m hoping to focus on more come 2012….. I’m just letting 2011 finish me off for now …… – Good luck gentlemen!
This year … the boat got rocked (so to speak) … rogue wave attacks from all directions …. with a side of as many days of tanning as possible. Now, my tan is not as toasty as it once was … I’m thinking I might take a little weekend trip in January … I have a nice 4 days off I need to use by the end of the month anyways .. so .. I’m thinking I just might. Somewhere local … but it’s gotta be somewhere where I can replenish my tan lol …. Hmm Anaheim? … San Diego? …. Go Chargers? … baby blue is so 1999 … hmm Anaheim = Teemu Selanne … speaking of Hockey ….. I have not watched a game yet this season …… well, I’ve watched one … I’ve just been uninterested is all …. not like me … but I am not trippin’ – I have other things on the mind.
Also .. the Canucks kinda ruined my birthday this year …. by not winning the Stanley Cup …. schmucks!! …. naw I wasn’t expecting anything …. either way my birthday was spent safe in East Van away from the retards rioting downtown. Sure we lost … but how much fun was it getting to get to game 7 of the Finals? … That’s an accomplishment I say … yes I am one of those LOL … but yeah .. I just .. haven’t watched … I’ll get into it soon .. maybe :/ – I watched me some rugby matches for the first time … those gentlemen from the New Zealand team .. oh my! *fans herself* lol … anyways .. GOOOO JETS!!! Sanchez #1!
Last year I was all gung-ho about posting about the year that had just passed …. this year, not as gung-ho LOL … like, it wasn’t horrendous ….. there were definitely fun times had …. it definitely did test my endurance though. But, see that’s what makes life exciting I think … the ups, downs, sharp turns and all of the above.

My first taste of Champagne:
One day, during the dawn of the CD Burner … before I had one of my own .. I would pay this kid to burn CDs for me … You all know the deal .. lol anyways … I don’t know where it was or how it happened, but I heard a Jennifer Lopez cover of this song and I added it to a playlist …. when I got the CD and went to listen to it, it was Ms.’Champagne’ singing. He told me he couldn’t find it … so he put the original on there instead. I wasn’t trippin …. though I still can’t find this “cover” anywhere …. :\ maybe it doesn’t exist lol.
Anyways … the past couple of weeks, I’ve really been into old school funk/dance/R&B tunes. – Normally when I am wishing for a time machine, it is to go forward in time ……. but lately it’s been to go back in time … to listen to all the classic hits in their prime. Oh yeah! Oh yeah! … lol
On that note, my Christmas wishlist:

So … I couldn’t find a title for this post … and I thought I’d use a LOST quote .. since I was on “the island” hahha. Anyways …. “I’ve looked into the eye of this island, and what I saw was beautiful.” — John Locke .. won out of a top 25 LOST quotes list I found on google. The other quotes were too … “deep” lol … reading that list though .. did bring me through a trip down memory lane. Umm .. yeah anyways…. sooo I really don’t want to write about every single thing I did in Oahu … but I will probably end up doing so anyways …. because it’s what always happens when I try to “keep it brief” lol … ummm
I’ll describe it to ya…
It was hot … a bit humid .. but being right by the beach the nice little sea breeze was happening. It was delicious. We arrived Saturday night but were too tired to do anything .. we were at airports and on planes for like 12 hours .. wakala! The next morning we did a bit of grocery shopping … and then we headed to Waikiki Beach, which was 2 blocks away from our hotel. Our hotel was at a good location indeed.
Waikiki Beach is of course one of the most popular beaches in Oahu. Imagine English Bay (in Vancouver) … it is right beside downtown .. and it’s super easy to get to. What is the difference? The white sandy beach … the palm trees … the lack of rocks and seaweed/kelp that are “all up in your grill” every time you step in the water, and of course … the water is clear, delicious, and warm. They have little sections that separate the ocean and the beach by a big rock wall. The water was about 3 feet deep or so when we went in, but the rock wall is a good 5 feet or so for those high tide times. There are areas in which there is an open space for water to come in and out which of course is a bit more deeper due to the water current …. anyways, Sofia almost died in one of those pits. That must have been quite the adrenaline rush. I can’t “hardcore” swim so … I was ready to say my good byes rather than to go rescue her … lol jk – I pulled her out. But yeah … after a little tanning action it was time to wash the sand out of places where I didn’t know sand could creep into. Oh my lol.
We did some shopping and dining … all the 20 something year old locals were stoked for Halloween the next day. They said it got pretty crazy and that 2-3 thousand people come down every year dressed up and it’s a huge gathering … I was stoked, curious, and excited for this!!
First things first though … Halloween Monday I drove up to the North Shore … drove right through the middle of Oahu .. past the Dole Pineapple Farms and a beautiful never ending landscape of mountains. Most of which were in SOME scene in LOST.. I’m sure. lol They were so pretty!!! .. Oh OH .. *sidenote* That mix CD I burnt … didn’t work … I blame that American car lol - So we didn’t even listen to it … BUT … they had this rad radio station that played nothing but sweet old school Funk and R&B jams (94.7 KUMU) … oh my god… back to back hits! So good I loved that station …. Anyways .. The North Shore was tres pretty!! It was time to swim with the fishes aka the sharks … there were 3 other people that were supposed to be on the boat with us but they never showed up .. so we had the boat all to ourselves and we also had the shark cage all to ourselves. The ride to the cage was a lot of fun. We saw dolphins and random fish would fly out of the water and dive back in ….. and although we didn’t actually set foot on the LOST beaches .. we saw them on our boat ride out. It was cool swimming with sharks .. but being in a cage isn’t really extreme … also these sharks were like .. vegetarians or something …. after a while I started feeling nauseous and went back on the boat … to lay down .. because yeah … it wasn’t a nice feeling lol – I was in the shark tank for a good 10-15 mins though … so … I got my fix haha .. it was fun. The water was so nice and literally navy blue. It was a pretty sight for sure. Sofia started to feel sick .. so as soon as we got back to land we went to get some carbs.
On the way back, we drove around the entire East Coast of Oahu. There is the one hwy that goes around the entire island and highway is an exaggeration lol. It’s a single lane road that circles the coast. It was neat .. also it would rain for about 5 minutes .. Jumanji style .. then it would become sunny. Patches of rain all over the island … I saw many rainbows lol. Anyways .. we drove past a few fruit (pineapple) stands and shrimp trucks and eventually got to this really pretty beach. Hukilau Beach. It was around 3PM ish or so … hung out there for a while .. I tried to record the waves .. but it was too windy … omg. That beach was beautiful!! The sand was so soft … the waves although a good 3-4 feet in height … would crash into the shore and the sea foam would kiss the sand for a good 12 feet before it would return back towards the ocean .. and the best part of all … there were like … 12 people total there. I took a few pics.
Hung out there for a little while longer and headed back to Waikiki ….. but only after getting hooked up with some local goods from some guys that were basking in a cloud inside a beat up red jetta … lol they even had a scale … no middleman! Anyways lol …. I don’t remember what we did that night OH right .. it was Halloween .. yesssss… so .. lol we didn’t really have anything planned for the evening … I showered and got ready … and so did Sofia … I got a bottle of rum earlier so I was making drinks … and she was being a party pooper .. literally. I didn’t even wear my costume because she didn’t want to dress up … anyways .. she goes .. “OMG you look like you’re going to a club” … UGHHH she’s so judgy!!!! …I wasn’t even .. and what IF I was .. who cares?? LOL – So I was sitting on my bed drinking … and she was like .. ok what are we doing? … and I was like .. I’m gonna have another drink .. then I’m gonna go for a walk … and then she says “ok I’m leaving then” and then stormed out – Oh my. That was a bit awkward. I’m kinda glad she did though … because she had her negative moments throughout the trip – kept putting a sister down lol … I just ignored those comments .. but after a while I started calling her out on her contradictions … lol … ANyways …. so I had one more drink .. grabbed my camera …. and headed out. haha
Halloween in Waikiki is pretty rad. Before I encountered hundreds and hundreds of people walking along side the shops all in costume .. I stopped by the beach .. I just wanted to relax and enjoy the pretty beach under the moonlight. Across the street from the beach at a restaurant .. there was a cover band playing tunes. They were pretty good … they chose good songs to cover .. props! Anyways after some time I went to check out the festivities. It was pretty cool .. there were so many people just walking around in costumes … this went on for blocks. It was super crowded .. there were a LOT of people … as well as really good costumes … some people get creative – Definitely the place to be on Halloween … youtube some videos if your curious hah.
The rest of the week …. we went to Pearl Harbor … more shopping … Hanauma Bay … really really pretty beach .. but you couldn’t step on the Coral … and it was everywhere .. and Sofia didn’t get FINS with her snorkel .. so every now and then you would HAVE to step on the Coral … I saw a few fish swimming around ..but no sea turtles LOL … also it was kinda crowded – I like my beaches with as little people as possible every now and then. We went to Germaine’s Luau .. which was pretty rad … Delicious Kalua Pig … after dinner there was a show … hula dancers etc. Pretty cool!! We hiked up Diamond Head …. it wasn’t that bad of a hike … the view was nice at the top though … it was HOT!
Thursday we did our own thing … I bussed to Waimanalo Bay and hung out there the entire afternoon! I sat under a palm tree and just relaxed. It was … delicious… and not crowded at all!! – The closest person to me on the beach was hmmm two basketball courts away LOL haha …. It was very windy though sadly … but enjoyable none the less. I saw little crabs there too … just walking around on the beach …. they were sooo cute!!
Friday …. I was ready to come home …. It’s fun .. and if you know just where to go you can have a rad old time … but it is very touristy. Everyone there is a tourist …… all these tours and excursions on every block, Waikiki Beach is full of that. So maybe hang out as far away from Waikiki as possible if what you are looking to do is relax. I say go out and explore on your own … do what you wanna do, see what you wanna see. That’s what we did … although we didn’t always want to do the same thing …. I still had a good time. Next time though, I think I will travel with someone who shares my ideas of fun lol. So, I say success. – Now I don’t wanna go back to work … meh!! X_X
… I remember being 18/19 when all the cool kids were talking about Vice Mag. And by cool kids I mean my friend Zack from Music World. All I knew was that they were associated with bands I enjoyed at the time. I never ever got into it. Years later … it’s still around … as long as kids need a guide to live by .. it’ll be around. And a new crop of kids keeps rolling in .. every year. I strongly dislike it.
I just read an article that a friend linked … and … it was pretty badly written. I am not saying I could do better because I am not a “journalist” … but .. the content lacked any sort of …. anything …. if that’s what the rest of their articles are like .. then .. I call that a waste of my time. I could be wrong to assume they are all like that .. but send me something decent maybe I will change my mind.
I KNOW I am being a hater … lol and perhaps a hypocrite .. because I’d rather read Wired or something … which is no different. I guess just .. Vice covers things I am not interested in … stupid things that are useless knowledge to me …. also, the tone in which certain things are portrayed are portrayed through the eyes of pretentious hipsters. (I’m no saint .. I know I’m a bit of a snob in certain departments … and I also have no shame – see .. snob!! LOL) The one girl in that article was talking about BC being all tree-hugger and laidback .. she also mentioned being born here … and on top of that COMPLAINED that she lived here but still chose to live here. WTF? .. if you’re gonna write an article and be a dick about the place you live and are writing about .. fucking move you twat!!! More BC for me you beeeech lol …. alright alright … I understand freedom of speech is a civil right …. but that doesn’t change that Vice is a waste of my time.
Anyways .. I hope it’s “followers” know the difference between freedom of speech in media and being able to make their own opinion at the end of the day. That is all.
So far, I’ve pretty much just bitched about Vice … but I just don’t know how to put into words how much I dislike it. I don’t think it’s just the articles, I can’t quite put my finger on it …. all I can say is … out of sight out of mind.
If there is one thing about Vice that I can tolerate is their musical association.
